Colgate offers several software options for faculty, students, and staff at Colgate, whether in public labs or for free download and install on your device.

Remote Access to Computer Lab Software

Virtual Computer Lab is the recommended method for access to Colgate licensed windows software such as Matlab, R, Maple, Stata, SPSS, ArcGIS, and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite. Virtual Computer Lab can also be used as a virtual Desktop, with all of the same look and functionality of a computer lab desktop.

Description: Creative Cloud is a collection of 20+ desktop and mobile apps and services for photography, design, video, web, UX, and more. Now you can take your ideas to new places with Photoshop on the iPad, draw and paint with Adobe Fresco, and design for 3D and AR.

Availability: Available to students, faculty, and full-time staff with an active Colgate network account.

How to Install: Start here to claim a license and follow the instructions for installation.

Description: Install Microsoft Office pro apps on your desktop, laptop, or mobile device, or go online for cloud versions of the Microsoft Office suite to create, share, and collaborate.

How to Install: To install on a desktop or laptop, begin here. For mobile devices, download individual apps from the App or Play store and log into each app with your Colgate credentials.

Description: MATLAB is a programming platform designed specifically for engineers and scientists. The heart of MATLAB is the MATLAB language, a matrix-based language allowing the most natural expression of computational mathematics.

Availability: Available to students, faculty, and staff with an active Colgate network account.

How to Install: Visit MATLAB online to link your Colgate account and get started with MATLAB.  

Description: Mathematica is a development platform fully integrating computation into complete workflows, moving you seamlessly from initial ideas to deployed individual or enterprise solutions.

Description: SPSS Statistics is a software package used for interactive, or batched, statistical analysis.

Availability: Available to students and employees.

How to Install: Begin by downloading and installing the Mac or Windows package onto your computer. You will need this authorization code.

Description: Stata is a complete, integrated software package that provides all your data science needs—data manipulation, visualization, statistics, and reproducible reporting.

Availability: Available to students, faculty, and staff with an active Colgate network account.

How to Install: Start here to obtain the license code, then following these installation instructions.  Finish up by downloading and installing the Mac or Windows or Linux package onto your computer.

Description: Overleaf online collaborative scientific writing and publishing tool

Availability: Available to students, faculty, and staff with an active Colgate network account.

How to Use: Sign in at overleaf.com/edu/colgate

Note: If you had a personally purchased subscription to overleaf, contact their support to cancel your subscription and begin using the Colgate account. Linking your account to Colgate's licensed account will not de-activate any previous subscriptions.

Description: Endnote is the world’s essential reference management tool, helps you save time, stay organized, collaborate with colleagues, and ultimately, get published.

Availability: Available to students, faculty, and staff with an active Colgate network account.

How to Install: Download and install the *Mac or **Windows package onto your computer.

*Also available in Self Service for Colgate-managed Macs.

Description: Tableau Cloud is Colgate's cloud-based software used for viewing and interacting with Colgate specific data and data visualizations created by Colgate's Tableau Desktop users. 

Availability: Available to faculty, and staff with an active Colgate network account and who have been granted access to view at least one Tableau Cloud dashboard.

How to Use: Visit our help videos to learn how to navigate and use Tableau Cloud. There is also documentation on How to Sign into Tableau Cloud. Sign into Tableau Cloud at online.tableau.com/#/site/colgateuniversity/home.

Description: Zoom is an audio / video conferencing application where many individuals can join the same meeting and share audio alone or audio and video. Zoom is a powerful platform that allows you to even use your phone to call into a conference when others are using computers.

Availability: Available to students, faculty, and staff with an active Colgate network account.

How to Use: To begin, visit colgate.zoom.us

  • Click Join to join a meeting a host has invited you to. You will need a Meeting ID or Personal Link Name to join.
  • Click Host to launch Zoom and invite others to your meeting.
  • Click Sign In to schedule meetings, review any upcoming or past meetings, and to personalize your account.

Library Software

Description: Flipster is a digital magazine solution that makes it easy for you to read your favorite magazines on your computer or mobile device.

Availability: Available to students, faculty, and staff with an active Colgate network account.

How to Install: No installation is needed if using a desktop web browser. To use on a mobile device, you can download the app. See complete instructions and details on installing the app our Flipster page. For direct access to Flipster, start here.

Description: Zotero is a free, easy-to-use tool to help you collect, organize, cite, and share research. Zotero automatically senses research on the web and organizes your research and helps you cite instantly by creating references and bibliographies inside Word, LibreOffice, and Google Docs.

Availability: Available to students, faculty, and staff with an active Colgate network account.
