As festive music filled the air, so did a rainbow of powder when students and community members celebrated Holi, the Hindu festival of colors, on April 5. Dancing on Whitnall Field, participants indiscriminately threw powder on their friends and strangers, covering each other from head to toe.

Another week at Colgate brings a wide range of lectures, performances, and activities! Check out some of the interesting events you can fill your schedule with this week. Today (Tuesday) at 4:30 p.m. an important discussion will be happening on campus, this time focusing on the role of the arts and humanities in higher education.

Colgate President Jeffrey Herbst, Professor Susan Thomson, and special guests David Himbara, Joseph Sebarenzi and Noel Twagiramungu conducted an engaging conversation about the 20th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide Monday night in Love Auditorium. Colgate University announced on Tuesday, April 1, that it will open a graduate school of dentistry. The dental school will be a natural outgrowth of the university’s strength in the sciences, as well as the consolidated focus on innovation and entrepreneurship. These ideas all are emphasized in the university’s 2014–2019 strategic plan.

Stacy Nadeau, a model for the Dove Campaign for Real Beauty, is on a mission to help change people’s perceptions. “I want to challenge you to find your own best, healthy self, where mental health and physical health meet in the middle,” she told the audience in Golden Auditorium on March 6.
