I know we’re all thinking the same thing. One more week until Thanksgiving recess. One more week until we can head home, eat turkey, and watch football.
But while you’re cramming for your last exam before break, or working on that 10-page Shakespeare paper due the day you get back from break like I will be this week, here are some events you don’t want to miss before catching up on some much needed sleep.
On Tuesday, a discussion titled “The Gift of Self-Love” will be held as part of the Women’s Studies Brown Bag Series. Led by professors Kezia Page, Anna Rios, and Meika Loe, and counselor Dawn LaFrance, it will highlight the importance of self-love and facilitate several activities with the audience to promote self-care.
All are invited to attend, and lunch will be provided. The discussion takes place in the Center for Women’s Studies at 11:30 a.m.
On Wednesday and Thursday, November 19-20, the Colgate Ballet Company will be performing its annual production of The Nutcracker.
The performance is student-directed, student-choreographed, and student-performed. There will even be special guest appearances by area children. The production will be performed in Brehmer Theater at 7 p.m.
Don’t forget about Trivia Night, every Thursday, at Donovan’s Pub! Bring friends, grab food, and join a team to compete for Gate Cash prizes. First-place winners can win up to $75, so make sure to head over between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.
If you’re still in town Friday, head downtown for Late Night Shopping in Hamilton. From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. downtown merchants will be offering special savings, door prizes and refreshments.
Men’s ice hockey will be taking on Brown University at Starr Rink on Friday at 7 p.m. The team will compete against the Yale Bulldogs on Saturday night, also at 7. Go, gate!
These are only a few of the events happening around campus and in the Colgate community. Be sure to check out the Colgate calendar for a full listing, and whether you’re headed home or taking a break on campus, have a happy Thanksgiving!
