Residential Life

Moving Out

Whether graduating in the fall, studying abroad in the spring, or coming to the end of the spring term, students are required to move out of their current assigned space as we begin the turnover of rooms for incoming students the following semester or for summer conferences and assigned summer housing. Students returning to their same housing assignment following any fall, winter, or spring break periods are not required to move out of their assigned rooms.

Housing

As a first-year student, Colgate’s four Residential Commons are the foundation of your living and learning experience, helping to build a strong sense of belonging and connection. Supported by professional staff members, your commons will build your academic and social transition in a welcoming, enriching, and supportive community.

Arrival Day

August 24, 2025

More information for the class of 2029's arrival will be available in early summer 2025.
Once you arrive on campus, you'll check in and receive your Orientation materials, then walk up to your residence hall, where your belongings will be waiting for you. Be sure to honk loudly and proudly when you pass the “Honk If You Love Colgate” sign.

Residence Halls

Throughout the first two years on campus, students live within the living and learning community of their Residential Commons. As juniors and seniors, students may make choices in their residential assignments in line with their interests and growth.
