The hallway outside the Ho Tung Visualization Lab holds an impressive collection of fluorescent minerals that delight visitors coming to the lab for one of its unique shows. Matt Shramko ’13 and his father, Steven, donated 70 of the minerals to Colgate, a natural evolution of their longtime interests in geology.

A scientist wearing lace wings paces about the stage, while a blue-and-white “bird spirit,” also costumed in lace and feathers, sings her a birdcall. All the while, animations of cellular processes unfold on the dome above their heads. Needless to say, this was not your average science lecture.

The combination of live performance, a state-of-the-art digital theater, and a story line about one of the most documented days in Roman history will make for a captivating, one-of-a-kind multimedia production this week inside the Ho Science Center’s Visualization Lab.
