Colgate, in collaboration with Community Memorial Hospital, began administering Moderna COVID-19 vaccines on campus today, in a first test of the University’s state-approved point of dispensing at the Hall of Presidents. 

In an election year with historic voter turnout, Colgate University organizations mobilized to help register new voters, encourage students to vote in Madison County, and create easy access to polling sites.

Historically, young adults have the lowest rate of voter turnout of all groups. In 2016, only 48% of Colgate students voted. The Colgate Vote Project — a student volunteer organization — hopes to change that.

In our new normal, Ben Sharf is wrapping up his senior thesis for his final year at Colgate through distance learning in quarantine, in addition to building the nonprofit organization 6FTCloser.

Colgate University has provided portable wireless hotspot units for the Hamilton Central School District to ensure internet access for students and teachers who need the help.

Jaritza Núñez ’21 has been named as a recipient of the 2020 Newman Civic Fellowship from Campus Compact.

As a child, Hannah Spotts ’20, absolutely loved reading. Now, she shares her enthusiasm for the written word with local students as a Liberty Kids volunteer.

Regional leaders in business, economic development, education, and non-profit agencies gathered for the Collaboration, Cooperation and Community for Commerce (4C) conference, Friday, Oct. 25. 

Following annual tradition, the Max A. Shacknai Center for Volunteerism, Outreach, and Education (COVE) organized a 9/11 Afternoon of Service. On Friday, Sept. 6, more than 70 student volunteers worked with eight nonprofits in Hamilton and neighboring towns to help local farms, promote environmental conservation, maintain trails, and preserve the Chenango Canal among other activities.

This year, Colgate’s Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration included two weeks of robust programming, Jan. 21–Feb. 1, centered on the theme “Thriving in the Current Times.”
