Cashier’s Window

General Information

Semester hours, Tuesday through Friday:
  • 10:00 a.m. - noon
  • 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Unless otherwise posted.
Summer hours:
  • 11:00 a.m. - noon
  • 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
The cashier's window is located on the ground floor of James B. Colgate Hall.

Check Cashing Service

Check cashing hours are 10 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday in the accounting office.
  • You will need to present your Colgate identification in order to cash a check
  • The dollar limit per day is $100 for personal checks for students
  • Third-party checks will not be cashed

The Cashier’s Window Accepts the Following

  • Cash
  • Personal check
  • 'Gate Card (ID required)
  • MasterCard (for fines only)
  • Visa (for fines only)
  • Discover (for fines only)
  • American Express (for fines only)

Policies

  • The cash limit for each transaction at the cashier’s window is $350. Individuals should present their ID card (usually Colgate picture ID is required).
  • Credit card payments are accepted only for fine payments, with the exception (Students paying for Late Registration and Special Study Trips).
  • Personal checks are cashed up to $100 per day (with ID). Third party checks may NOT be cashed. There is a $15 service charge for each returned check, in addition to any bank charges.
  • For trips involving students that need a cash advance above $350 (or special circumstances that may require a substantial cash advance), requests must be made five (5) business days prior to the travel date. In these instances, the cash advance will be sent directly to the bank account or a check may be issued.
  • For students traveling with Faculty, a travel advance for is filled out listing the number of students, destination and what the trip entails. Only Faculty may pick up cash at the window.
