Murray Decock has served as a vice president at Colgate since 2002. Murray most recently served as the director for Colgate's Passion for the Climb campaign (2007–2012), leading a team that raised $480 million, surpassing a $400 million goal against some of the most daunting economic headwinds.
In addition to overseeing advancement, alumni relations, career services, communications, external relations, the Hamilton Initiative, and community affairs, Murray has helped develop the architecture and implementation for institution-wide programs in leadership, entrepreneurship, and wellness. He also serves on the Institutional Advancement & Communications and Nominating, Governance and Trustee Development committees of the Board of Trustees.
Working with faculty, admissions, and the dean of students staff, Murray helped to create and fund Colgate's signature Benton Scholars Program, a competitive admissions and recruitment initiative that attracts students from all over the world to study and engage deeply in the most significant global issues of our time.
Murray has a BA from Colgate, an MM from Indiana University, and a DMA from the University of Maryland. He has been a member of Colgate's music faculty since 1987, teaching in the studio, and playing as soloist with the orchestra.
From 1987 through 1994 Decock also served as accompanist and assistant conductor to the Colgate University Chorus. During that time he accompanied the chorus on two tours of Europe, performing on the piano and organ in the churches and cathedrals of Venice, Milan, Paris, Salzburg and Vienna, as well as St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City.
