The Office of National Fellowships and Scholarships is happy to announce that Langh Guite ’26 has received the Gilman Scholarship to support his study abroad experience in Geneva, Switzerland, as a member of the Spring 2025 Political Science Study Group led by Professor Juan Fernando Ibarra del Cueto.
The Gilman Scholarship, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, is a nationally competitive grant program that provides funding for students to study or intern abroad to gain skills critical to our national security and economic prosperity.
Langh, an International Relations major, credits his passion for global affairs to his participation in the International Scholars Program during high school. On campus, he served as a student ambassador for the ALANA Cultural Center, where he played a key role in organizing major events such as the Multicultural Fashion Show and ALANAPalooza.
“Gilman removes any worries relating to monetary funds thus enhancing my experience,” Langh explains. Although the Geneva program has just started, Langh has already traveled across Europe to Vienna and Budapest with the Colgate group and will embark on other excursions soon. “Just the idea of traveling across Europe is mouth-watering, and everything has lived up to my expectations,” he adds.
Next week, Langh will commence his role as a communications intern at the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC), an opportunity he eagerly anticipates as a chance to gain firsthand professional experience.
Reflecting on the benefits of the Gilman Scholarship, Langh praises the expansive network and wide range of events available to scholars. “I was nervous about applying, but I would recommend it to anyone who is considering it,” he remarks.
