This fall, Far Owl Studios received a seed grant to support our progress. Generous funding from alumni and other supporters allows us to create Ethereal Metropolis, a game featuring eldritch unicorn deer abominations, griffins, horses, and wolf people? Well, this time around, a griffin. Take a look:
3D Model for Orishidat, read more below about how you’ve helped us create this model.
Concept art detailing the textures and surfaces of the character model itself.
Hailing from a distant land known as the Third Tornashian Empire, Orishidat is a marksgriffin known for her sharp eye and keen wit. As players continue to play through Ethereal Metropolis, they will discover more about her powerful range of abilities while uncovering her story of being a mercenary.
Receiving a TIA seed grant allowed us to commission a 3D model as seen above from a contractor. This 3D model is crucial for the visual aspect of the game, because this is the physical model that will be moving around on the battlefields of our Ethereal Metropolis. She is like a chess piece that you command on the board. She is also one of six main characters, so players will see her all the time while on the battlefield.
While a small step in light of the project’s scope, it fits in line with us to continue producing the game, filling it with 3D assets, programming dynamic and reactive algorithms, implementing procedural generations, and building our capabilities to push our game to the market quickly. It is a step. Nonetheless, it is essential to celebrate these small victories on a long road such as ours.
While we may have oriented ourselves and have a strong vision for the path ahead in our development, we could still use help with the following:
- Legal: Navigating the fine lines between employees and contractor designation in legal documents in long-term contract work
- Marketing: Identifying audiences and conducting market research to create definitive demographics for use in marketing campaigns
- Project management: Understanding the greater plans of the pipeline within the art of games development
If you or anyone you know has expertise in these areas, feel free to reach out to us at farowlstudios@gmail.com. Thank you for the read — and the opportunity made possible for us by generous supporters of TIA!
