The last time I wrote was before break and let me just say that I had an amazing time in New Jersey. I took the time to shop, eat and sleep (which I often lack these days!).
Coincidentally, Colgate was playing football at Princeton University on the same Saturday that I was in New Jersey and I went to the game. Football, as you can all tell, is one of my favorite sports to follow.
Coming back to school felt welcoming, it was great to see all my friends again. Though, I must say that carrying my luggage up the hill was rough.
The hills here at Colgate might seem like a hassle, but I see trekking them as a workout for my legs.
Today I will be attending the Leyosta Hall brown bag at the ALANA Cultural Center.
She is a Colgate alumna who worked passionately for the revival of the Native American Student Association. I can’t wait to hear what she has to say about her experiences.
After that, I will likely be attending the next session in the Living Writers Series at Love Auditorium where author V.S. Naipaul will be featured. I enjoy this series immensely because of the inclusion of prominent international authors.
If I have time, I will catch Violent Universe at the Ho Tung Visualization Lab right after Naipaul’s lecture. I love watching films there, I feel as though I am transported to space through the screen.
Saturday brings both work and fun for me, as is usual for a college student. I’ll be heading downtown to the Colgate Bookstore to meet with my fellow bookworms at the Jane Austen Book Club.
Then later that night, I’ll be lacing up my skates for the traditional Late Skate at Huntington Gym. I’m pretty sure I will make an embarrassment of myself, but it’s all in good fun!
On Sunday, I will have some down time, but I will go to the Breast Cancer Awareness Club and the Sorella Society kickball tournament at Whitnall Field if the weather allows. That should be entertaining to watch.
(I’ve been asked to write each week about what life is like as a first-year student here at Colgate. Until next time!)
