Volleyball Falls to Lehigh

?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />BETHLEHEM, PA. – The Colgate volleyball team dropped its eighth-straight Patriot League match 3-1 to Lehigh on Thursday evening.

 

The Mountain Hawks took the first two games 28-30 and 25-30.  The Raiders fought back to win the third set 30-28 before falling 21-30 in the fourth frame.

Colgate was led by Laurel Oliver (Watertown, N.Y.) with 15 kills and Allie Nichols (Sacramento, Calif.) with 14.  Freshman Marybeth Maziarz (Wilbraham, Mass.) tallied her first double-double of the season with ten kills and 11 digs.  Setter Alana Elsner (Wheaton, Ill.) matched Maziarz’s 11 and added 51 assists for yet another double-double.

 

Senior Claire Putzeys (Newtonville, Mass.) notched four block assists moving her into seventh on the career blocks assists list with 162.  Junior co-captain Natalie Rawson (Palmdale, Calif.) tied her career-high with 31 digs in the match.  Her season total of 358 is the fifth best mark in Colgate history.

 

Michelle Schwendenmann paced the Mountain Hawks with 13 kills.  Jeanette Singleton gathered ten kills and eighteen assists while Jill Kober posted a team-high 19 digs.  Katie Dukatz and Morgan Volkert added six blocks apiece to the effort.

 

The Raiders fall to 5-20 overall and 2-8 in the Patriot League.  The team will close its final road trip of the season against Lafayette in Easton, Pa. At 5 p.m. on Nov. 1
