Volleyball Falls 3-0 to Binghamton

Hamilton, N.Y.- Colgate volleyball fell to the Binghamton Bearcats 3-0 for the second time this season.  Game scores were 24-30, 18-30, and 21-30.

 

Sophomore Caity Whiteaker ('xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = 'urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags' />Venice, Fla.) led the team with 11 kills, while senior Claire Putzeys (Newtonville, Mass.) posted the highest hitting percentage for the Raiders (.308).  Freshman Marybeth Maziarz (Wilbraham, Mass.) had seven kills on 17 attempts for a .235 hitting percentage.

Setters Allie Nichols (Sacramento, Calif.) and Alana Elsner (Wheaton, Ill.) combined for 27 assists, but 31 Raider attacking errors helped Binghamton push past the Raiders.

 

Anne Crocus had an error free performance for the Bearcats.  She put down ten kills in 13 attempts for .769 hitting percentage.  She also added five total blocks to Binghamton‘s effort.  Michele Heck put nine kills in the books, and setter Ashley Meffert tallied 25 assists on the night.

 

The Raiders are back in action at 7 p.m. this Friday as they take on Northeastern at the New England Challenge in Boston.
