POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Colgate volleyball team picked up its third win of the season in three straight matches at Marist on Wednesday night. Game scores were 30-28, 32-30, and 30-26.
The Raiders were led by sophomore Allie Nichols (Sacramento, Calif.) who put down a career high 15 kills in the match. Senior Claire Putzeys (Newtonville, Mass.) also added 12 kills and two blocks to the winning effort.
Sophomore setter Alana Elsner (Wheaton, Ill.) dished 41 assists and ten digs en route to her third double-double in Colgate’s last four games. She was also credited with three service aces while hitting for a .364 percentage on six kills. Junior Natalie Rawson (Palmdale,Calif.) dug a career high 23 balls to lead the Raider defense. Sophomore Caity Whiteaker (Venice, Fla.) followed with 16 digs.
The Red Foxes of Marist were led by Christina Brozek who put down 11 kills on 23 attempts for a .391 percentage. Setter Meghan Cochrane had 38 assists while Amy Gillespie posted a team high 16 digs.
The Raiders open Patriot League play at 7 p.m. on Friday night as they host Holy Cross on Cotterell Court. The team will then host Army at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
