CAPE COD, Mass. – Senior forward Scooter Smith (Calgary, Alberta) of the Colgate men’s ice hockey team was named the ECAC Player of the Week Monday.
Smith recorded his first multiple point game of the season with a goal and two assists in Saturday night’s 5-4 overtime loss to Connecticut at Starr Rink.
Smith assisted on junior Kyle Doyle’s first goal of the game which gave the Raiders an early 1-0 lead. He also assisted on sophomore Dmitry Yashin’s third period goal that tied the game 3-3. Smith then scored a goal of his own five minutes later to give the Raiders a 4-3 lead before UConn scored two straight goals for the win.
Smith is currently tied for second in the conference in scoring with two goals and three assists.
Colgate hosts Sacred Heart on Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26. Both games are set for 7 p.m.
