Colgate’s A Day in the Life program, a signature Career Services initiative, opened for student applications on Friday, October 12.
A Day in the Life pairs students with alumni, parents, or friends of Colgate during winter break according to the student’s professional interests. Students shadow their hosts for a day, learning about the range of professional opportunities and making valuable connections with members of the Colgate network.
The program’s success is due, in part, to wide and enthusiastic alumni and parent participation, which more than met the needs of the approximately 350 students who came into the program last year.
The number of alumni involved also means that students have a variety of industries and opportunities to explore — from health, tech, and education to finance, law, and government work.
Hugo Torres-Fetsco ’15, senior associate at Third Bridge, was a participant in the A Day in the Life program as both a student and an alumnus. “It’s a great way to network,” he said. “I spoke with my undergraduates about how to network, what’s going on at Colgate, how to speak with Career Services. Something as simple as getting exposure to an office environment really helps.”
Keira Beatty ’21, a student participant in last year’s A Day in the Life, agrees. “I had a fantastic time working with Career Services for A Day in the Life.” Keira said. “The staff makes sure to aid students in any way possible.”
The application form for the 2018 Day in the Life program can be accessed here, and applications will remain available until Thursday, October 28.
