The Office of Alumni Relations officially opened registration for Reunion 2013 last Friday, beginning the countdown to Colgate’s annual celebration on Whitnall Field, May 30–June 2.
In the waning days of spring, the university will welcome its threes and eights — alumni who graduated in five-year intervals between 1933 and 2008. To put an exclamation point on the Year of ’13, the alumni office is pitching an additional tent in the circle for the Class of 2000, which will celebrate its 13th reunion. Female athletes will also receive special recognition with events marking the 40th anniversary of women’s varsity sports.
“Reunion has always been an ideal time for Colgate community members to renew their connection with the university and with each other,” said alumni director Timothy Mansfield. “But the Year of ’13 and the anniversary of women’s athletics makes it a particularly exciting moment.”
Along with unique events for athletes and the Class of 2000, Reunion 2013 will include a full slate of traditional activities such as the Alumni Council’s awards ceremony, fireworks, all-class parade, class banquets, and barbeques. This year’s Reunion College program includes more than 25 classes, featuring titles like Paradise Lost 3: A Q&A with Filmmaker Joe Berlinger ’83 and 40 Years of Women’s Athletics at Colgate: Then and Now, presented by Colgate coaches Kathy Brawn and Cathy Foto.
“It is said that you can’t go back, but that is not true,” said Thomas Haley ’73, encouraging classmates to attend. “That can be proven wrong on the first weekend in June.”
