HAMILTON, N.Y.- Colgate men’s lacrosse held off a late rally by Holy Cross Saturday to earn a Patriot League victory, 11-7. The Crusaders scored five goals in the fourth period to the Raiders one but could not get any closer to pull out the win.
HC’s Shaun McGowan began the fourth period rally with just over a minute into play followed by two goals from Dave McWilliams and a goal from Paul Washington before Colgate answered back on a goal from Joe Parker (Crofton, Md.). Washington ended all scoring with his third at 13:13.
Colgate dominated the second and third periods of play with a 8-1 run. The Raiders held HC scoreless in the second while only allowing one in the third.
The Colgate run was led by senior Ian Franke (Duxbury, Mass.) who finished with three goals and an assist. All of Franke’s points came in the second and third period rally.
Patriot League Rookie of the Week Parker also did his part by tallying two of his three goals and adding an assist in the rally.
Washington led the Crusaders with his three goals while Mike McKee chipped in four assists.
Senior Chris Hettler (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) stopped nine of Holy Cross’s shots while Crusader keeper Brian Hodgdon earned 12 saves.
