Six current members of the Colgate men’s hockey team and one former student-athlete have been participating in 2014 NHL Player Development Camps.
Three Raiders – Tylor Spink, Tyson Spink and Kyle Baun – were at the Detroit Red Wings’ camp July 4-8 in Traverse City, Mich. Baun also was scheduled to attend the Boston Bruins’ camp, while Spiro Goulakos received a New York Rangers invitation, Jake Kulevich participated with the San Jose Sharks, and Mike Borkowski earned an invite from the Vancouver Canucks.
Former Colgate student-athlete Thomas Larkin ’13 participated in the developmental camp of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Here’s the latest list of NCAA players at the 2014 camps.
The Spink twins and Baun were interviewed by the Red Wings during their camp stay. Check out those videos.
The professional-level camps, which do not affect student-athlete NCAA eligibility, are designed to give players the experience of an NHL training camp.
Rookies and prospects participate in on-ice practices and scrimmages, medical and fitness training, meetings and seminars, as well as off-ice team-building activities.
