HAMILTON, N.Y. – The Colgate men’s lacrosse team moved to 1-1 on the season after defeating Canisius 6-5 in overtime on Colgate’s Tyler’s Field Tuesday night.  Senior Ramsey Brame (West Hartford, Conn.) led the team with three goals while sophomore Rob Trasolini (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) registered the game winner at 2:23 in overtime.

The Raiders got on the board early at 9:32 when Brame netted the first of his three goals.  The Griffs’ Travis Hill answered less than three minutes later with an unassisted tally to knot the score at one.

Canisius dominated the second period extending its lead to 3-1 on a score from Kevin Ross followed by a point from Chris Tocin off a pass from Matt Condin.  Greg Campbell added a man-up goal from Brad Favero at 11:23 in the third to increase the deficit to 4-1.  Trasolini cut into the Griffs’ advantage with an unassisted tally at 2:28 to close out the third and the Raiders carried that momentum into the fourth stanza.

Brame and Eddie Brennan (Hillsborough, Calif.) scored consecutive goals to open the fourth and tie the score at four.  Canisius went up again with 6:18 remaining in the contest on Stephen Ola’s first goal of the season.  Brame’s third goal of the game would even the score once again with 2:27 on the clock.

A series of impressive saves from Colgate goalie Andrew Jarolimek (Silverthorne, Colo.) held the Griffs off the board and sent the game into overtime.  At 2:24 Trasolini launched the fatal shot off a pass from Brennan to give the Raiders the 6-5 win.

Jarolimek finished the game with nine stops while Canisius’ goalie Tim Kucharzak recorded 12 saves.  Colgate outshot the Griffs 40-18, but failed to capitalize on three extra-man attempts.

The Raiders continue their home stand against St. Joseph’s Saturday at 1 p.m. on Tyler’s Field.
