BETHLEHEM, Pa. ‘ Colgate used a balanced attack as 10 different players scored 11 goals in the Raiders’ 11-6 win over Lehigh on Saturday evening on Ulrich Field. With the win, Colgate moves into a tie for second place in the Patriot League with a 3-1 conference record. The Raiders are 5-5 overall while the Mountain Hawks fall to 4-7 overall and 1-3 in the league.
The Raiders scored eight unanswered goals over the course of the second and third periods to take a commanding 9-1 lead and cruise to the victory. Senior Nick Gerken (Wilton, Conn.) scored back-to-back goals in the third period and added an assist to lead offense. The other Raiders to score during the run were; senior Peter Watts (Wayland, Mass.), junior Ramsey Brame (West Hartford, Conn.), junior Chris Michaels (Pennington, N.J.), junior Jonathan Pico (Denver, Colo.), freshman Mark Nemith (Albany, N.Y.) and senior Scott Herbst (Short Hills, N.J.).
Sophomore Jason Vasas (Fairport, N.Y.) scored the first goal of the contest at the 7:55 while junior Jeff Vander Meulen (Liverpool, N.Y.) and freshman Robert Trasolini (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) scored the final two goals of the game for the Raiders.
Sophomore Adam Hershman (Holden, Mass.) put in a strong performance, leading the Raiders with five ground balls and going 6-for-7 on face offs while freshman goalie Andrew Jarolimek (Silverthorne, Colo) had another outstanding performance, making 13 saves in cage for the Raiders.
The Raiders return home to face Bucknell on Saturday, April 19 on Tyler’s Field at 1:00 p.m.
