ITHACA, N.Y. ‘ Colgate hit all eight free throws in overtime to escape with an 84-77 win over Cornell Tuesday night at Newman Arena. The Raiders evened their record at 1-1, while the Big Red skipped to 0-2.

Mark Linebaugh hit for 23 points and Alvin Reed scored a career-high 17 points for Colgate, which ended the contest 19-of-20 from the charity stripe. Andrew Zidar had his second career double-double for the Raiders with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Colgate held a 39-30 halftime advantage before the Big Red rallied to take a one-point lead 60-59 with 5:49 left. Cornell took its lead on a 3-pointer by Cody Toppert. The lead see-sawed back and forth as regulation counted down, with a conventional three-point play by Eric Taylor with 1:54 holding up to send the contest into overtime.
Colgate scored the first seven points of the extra frame while earning its third straight win over the Big Red. Linebaugh hit all four of his free throws and Reed and Howard Blue each added two to seal the win.
Cornell’s Gabe Stephenson had career highs of 17 points and 12 rebounds in the loss, while Toppert finished with 16 and Ka’Ron Barnes 15.
