Hamilton, NY — Colgate University’s Melissa Rawson (Palmdale, CA/Highland HS) has been named the Patriot League Player of the Week in softball, while Elena Isaac (Chandler, AZ/Desert Vista HS) was named the Pitcher of the Week.
Rawson and Isaac helped the Raiders finish last week with a 5-3 mark in Florida including impressive victories over Yale and Central Florida.
Rawson, a senior shortstop, hit .458 (11-of-24) in eight games, including six extra base hits. Rawson also crossed the plate seven times and drove in seven runs. In CU’s first-ever win over Yale, 6-5, she was 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. She ripped a hit in all three of her at bats against Columbia in a 3-1 victory including a two-run homer.
Isaac was 2-1 in three starts last week posting victories over Yale and Columbia. The junior RHP tossed a complete game against Yale, scattering six hits and striking out one. In the victory over Columbia, Isaac held the Lions to five hits and fanned seven batters. Her final start of the week came in a 1-0 loss to Jacksonville (Ala.). On the week, Isaac gave up four earned runs in 29.1 innings of work.
