Hamilton, NY — Colgate University senior shortstop Melissa Rawson (Palmdale, Calif./Highland HS) is the fifth leading hitter in the nation, according to the latest NCAA softball statistics released. Rawson was batting .481 through games of April 13.
She also is 11th in home runs with 0.32 per game (8 in 25 games); tied for 23rd in triples with 0.12 per game (3 in 25 games) and 30th in doubles with 0.32 per game (8 in 25 games).
Her sister, Natalie (Palmdale, Calif./Highland HS), Colgate’s first baseman is also listed among the nation’s leaders. She is 15th in runs batted in with 1.04 per game (26 in 25 games) and 16th in doubles with 0.36 (9 in 25 games).
