HAMILTON, N.Y.The honors keep rolling in for sophomore forward Jon Smyth (Markham, Ont.) of the Colgate University men’s ice hockey team. U.S. College Hockey Online tabbed Smyth as the nation’s most improved player Tuesday along with Minnesota-Duluth’s Evan Schwabe. In addition, he is the only sophomore among the major award winners.
Last month, Smyth was named the ECAC’s Best Defensive Forward and a first team all-ECAC selection. He also took home the team’s Whit Williams Award, given to the most improved player, and Best Offensive Player and co-Best Defensive Player honors.
Smyth finished the season with a team-high 42 points on 21 goals and 21 assists after accumulating three points last season.
