While it’s not surprising that accounts of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict have emerged as contradicting
narratives of the violent events as told by historians from different parties, they still raise questions
regarding historians’ motivations.
In “National Myths: Truth Telling and the Writing of History in the Israel-Palestine Conflict,” guest lecturer Hillel Cohen will examine the epistemological limits of historians and their roles in times of conflict, while focusing on the historiography of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and analyzing the tension between national commitment and the historian’s commitment to the truth.
Come by Persson Hall Auditorium on Monday at 4:30 p.m. to hear Cohen.
For a fun and tasty study break this week, come to the COOP at 11 a.m. Tuesday to make your own crepes! Hosted by the Shaw Wellness Institute, you can watch a cooking demonstration and get to work making your own chocolate or fruit-filled crepes.
