This week has been quite hectic, but in a very good way!
I am getting prepared for my trip to China with the Benton Scholars Program so I had to get some shots that I hadn’t already received.
Going down to the health center is always an adventure, and I had to have my friend Saffiate Ba ’14 come with me just in case I needed a hand to squeeze.
The shots themselves weren’t that bad, but now my arms are sore. Even so, the shots are tangible reminders of the approaching trip. I can’t wait!
Because everyone is coming back from spring break, this week has been a muddle of catching up, and getting back into the swing of things.
I attended the Lift For Life event where the football players competed in a mini-obstacle course in order to raise money for a charity called Uplifting Athletes, which dedicates itself to helping those with rare diseases.
The event was super fun, and I was able to watch my friends perform outrageous strong-man feats.
Then, tonight, I will be attending the LiNKED Up banquet hosted by the Chinese Interest Association, Korean American Students Association, Latin American Student Organization, and Kappa Kappa Gamma.
The banquet is intended to raise awareness about the human rights violations occurring in North Korea and it should be a great way for Colgate students to come together for a common cause.
On Saturday, I will be going to the Step Afrika performance at the Palace Theater with another friend.
Step Afrika is a step-group that tours around the country. The dancers are highly acclaimed, and I am quite excited to see them.
Also, Queer Fest is this weekend. I will try to catch some of those events. I know there is a great keynote speaker coming.
I’m glad to be back in school again, and I can’t wait for the spring to come around!
(I’ve been asked to write each week about what life is like as a first-year student here at Colgate. Until next time!)
