Hamilton, NY — Colgate University’s John Frieser (Endwell, NY/Maine-Endwell, NY) has been named to the fifth annual Division I-AA Athletics Directors Association Academic All-Star Team.
Frieser, a junior tight end for the Raiders, was one of 43 winners chosen for the Academic All-Star Team.
Each of the winners were required to have a minimum grade point average of 3.20 in undergraduate study and have been a starter or key player with legitimate athletic credentials. Frieser has a 3.63 grade point average while studying Sociology & Anthropology.
Freiser, a two-time first team all-Patriot League performer, was Colgate’s fourth leading receiver this season while helping the Raiders tie for the Patriot League Championship. He caught 19 passes for 283 yards and two touchdowns, while blocking on an offensive line that established Colgate as the top rushing team in the Patriot League.
Earlier this year, Frieser was named to the 2002 Verizon Academic All-District I Football Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
