Finals week is fast approaching, and I am ready for the last stretch of my freshman year.
This week I have been inundated with work, turning in assignments, and enjoying the good weather that has finally made an appearance on campus.
This past night was my first staying in the library until closing. I have never had so much work to do before in my life. It was the first, and I hope the last, time that I am ever staring at a computer screen until two o’clock in the morning.
Still, word on the street is that this whole college business only gets harder as the years go by!
I’m very excited about my living arrangements for next year. I am going to be living in a four-person suite with my best friends.
Also, this week presented the last few days to spend with classmates. I feel so sad that I won’t be in class with the same people, and the wonderful professors for awhile.
Even so, this summer is going to be phenomenal, particularly with the approaching China trip.
Getting all my luggage back home, though, is presenting a challenge. Luckily, one of the admission officers, Emily Thigpen, will be taking a trip to Colorado. She also will be visiting my old high school.
She offered to take a suitcase back home for me, and I jumped on that offer as quickly as I could seeing as it’s not easy to figure out a way to transport all my junk, virtually, thousands of miles away.
My mother will be coming up to Colgate this weekend as well to help me with my packing, and for other personal reasons. I am quite excited to be seeing my mom and my brother. I haven’t seen them since winter break, and I would not have seen them until after the China trip.
Thus, this weekend will be spent catching up with family, and cleaning up the mess I have made of my dorm!
(I’ve been asked to write each week about what life is like as a first-year student here at Colgate. Until next time!)
