The New York Times has called actor and comedian Whoopi Goldberg uncategorizable and compelling. Tomorrow, Colgate University will call her an honored guest.
Goldberg will entertain the campus community with a night of stand-up comedy and conversation on March 27. Her sold-out performance will begin at 6 p.m. in Cotterell Court and will be followed by an onstage discussion, moderated by New York Times best-selling author and journalist Lee Woodruff ’82, P’13.
The visit is sponsored through Colgate’s Global Leaders series.
Goldberg is one of few artists to earn two Golden Globes as well as an Oscar, Grammy, Emmy, and Tony award. The John F. Kennedy Center honored her with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2001.
Offstage, Goldberg has penned numerous books for children and adults. She has also taken on the role of humanitarian, serving as a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador, advocating for children and the homeless, championing human rights and education, fighting substance abuse and AIDS, and raising funds for numerous charities.
