Hamilton, NY — Colgate University Professor of Music Laura Klugherz, violin, and pianist Ana Guijarro, senior professor of piano at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid, will present ‘Spring Stories,’ a joyous lyrical interlude programmed to welcome spring, on Sunday, March 25. The program will include Sonata in a minor by Robert Schumann, Sonata No. 1 by Gabriel Faure, and Suite Italienne (adapted from the ballet Pulcinella) by Igor Stravinsky. Also featured will be the rarely performed Sonata for Violin and Piano by the renowned Spanish nationalist composer Enrique Granados, a virtuosic display for both instruments. The recital will take place at 3:30 in Colgate Memorial Chapel on the campus in Hamilton. Admission is free and open to the public. Klugherz, a specialist in Spanish and Latin American art music for strings, performs recitals in Europe and South America, where she also gives master classes and workshops. Guijarro recently recorded contemporary Spanish concerti with the London Symphony. Klugherz and Guijarro have performed together in the acclaimed Trio Ciudad de Sevilla, and collaborate often as a duo in Europe and the United States.
