The Year of ’13 ain’t over until it’s over, so Colgate is planning a homecoming party fit for this once-in-a-century celebration, September 19–22.
On Saturday, September 21, the Raiders football team takes on the Yale Bulldogs at Andy Kerr Stadium. Before and after kickoff, the Office of Alumni Relations will partner with groups across campus to host a variety of events.
“Last spring, we formed a planning committee to bring many good programs and people together,” said alumni director and associate vice president Tim Mansfield. “The forecast looks amazing.”
The weekend begins on Thursday, September 19, with a barbeque on the Quad. That evening, best-selling author and executive coach Keith Ferrazzi will give a presentation in Memorial Chapel.
Friday, the university will warm up its academic muscles with a science colloquium and a panel conversation on women in education — an appropriate topic during the 40th anniversary of coeducation at Colgate. For alumni wishing to interact with students, there will be mock interviews coordinated by the Center for Career Services, and the Presidents’ Club will host an emerging leaders luncheon.
As the sun goes down Friday, the pep band and the Raiders football team will be on Whitnall Field to light the homecoming bonfire before a special concert and a celebratory fireworks display. Athletics alumni returning for their reunions can look forward to the annual Hall of Honor induction dinner after the big game on Saturday.
Add an alumni golf outing, get-togethers for Colgate parents, alumni of color, and much more, and you’ll see why Homecoming 2013 is heading for the history books. Watch the schedule develop at colgate.edu/homecoming, where you can also register for the weekend.
