OLEAN, N.Y.The Colgate University golf team placed first out of 15 teams Monday at the St. Bonaventure-Keenan Invitational with a combined score of 597.
This is the second tournament the team has won in the fall season, having taken first at the American Invitational. Last years champs, St. Bonaventure placed second to the Raiders with a combined total of 600. Other top ten finishers included: Loyola College (602), Niagara (602), Drexel (607), Sienna College (607), Ottawa (609), St. Bonaventure-Brown (612), Cornell (612) and Bucknell (612).
Individually, Jeff Tracy of St. Bonaventure took medalist honors after beating Bucknell’s Abbie Valentine in a playoff. Tracy shot a combined score of 146 for six over par. Colgate junior Ben Selberg (Englewood, Colo.) led the Raiders, tying for third with a combined score of 147. Three Raiders, seniors Jesse Smith (Barrington, N.H.) and Andrew Calcutt (Traverse City, Mich.) along with junior Sean Cusick (Westwood, Mass.), all tied for 12th place with combined scores of 150. Sophomore Tyler Eldredge (Yarmouthport, Mass.) rounded out the field for Colgate, shooting a 163 and tying for 70th place.
The Raiders are back in action on Sunday, Sept. 29 and Monday, Sept. 30 at the Duquesne-Champion Lakes Invitational in Ligonier, Pa.
