HAMPTON, VA ‘ Sophomores Natalie Rawson and Caitlin Thistle, and freshman Erin Hanna had two RBI apiece to lead the Colgate University softball team (2-0) to an 8-2 win over Morgan State Saturday at the Hampton University Tournament.
With the victory Colgate advances to the title game against Howard University on Sunday at 9 a.m. The Raiders will also play two non-tournament games on Sunday against Hampton at 11 a.m. and Morgan St. at 1 p.m.
Thistle was 1-for-3 with one double, while Natalie Rawson was 1-for-2 with a double and one run scored and Hanna was 2-for-3 with one run scored.
Freshman Kate Howard (1-0) was the winning pitcher in her collegiate debut. She allowed five hits, one earned run, struck out five and walked none.
Other hitting stars for the Raiders were freshman Erica Anderson was 2-for-3, Dorothy Donaldson 1-for-2, Melissa Rawson 2-for-3 with one RBI, a double and two runs scored, Rachel Smith was 1-for-3 and freshman Kim Olmstead 1-for-3 with one RBI.
