As of today, Lynn University’s relative obscurity is a thing of the past. The same will likely be true for its president, Kevin Ross ’94, who has been at the helm since 2006.
“Most people have never heard about the school so they think not much is going on there,” Ross told the Tampa Bay Times. “We are a small school, but we have big impact.”
An estimated 60 million viewers are expected tune in tonight for the third and final debate between President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney.
According to the story by staff writer Leonora LaPeter Anton , Lynn University, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, was chosen as host for several reasons, including a $15 million, 752-seat theater and the can-do attitude of its community.
She wrote: It also helped that Lynn turned the debate process into an educational opportunity for its students, adding about 80 new political courses.
So far, Lynn has spent $5 million on the debate. Read more about the debate preparation and impact here.
“But it’s all worth it to get the word out about Lynn University, Ross told the Tampa Times. “Recently he has been handing out T-shirts that say: ‘Lynn University, we’ve never heard of you either!'”
