Alumni in the reunion classes of 2007 and 2012 are invited to give a Torch Medal, delivered virtually, to a present or past member of the faculty or staff. “Like many others, my Colgate journey began with a note from Dean of Admission Gary Ross. Even to my eighteen-year-old self, it was immediately clear that Colgate was a place where I would be supported, appreciated, and challenged. And it was! Although the warmth, encouragement, and attention to detail in this initial message proved to be present all over campus, the atmosphere in James B. Colgate Hall always struck me as particularly special. This is the place where I spent two summers and countless hours during the school year, where I ran to (tears streaming down my face) when my younger brother was admitted, where I visit each time I’m on campus, and where I first considered a career in higher education. Thanks to Gary (and his amazing team), I began my professional admissions career seven years ago, and now have the opportunity—as a college counselor—to support high school students in their own journeys to college (and some to Colgate!). Thank you for everything, Gary! —WCC”
