BETHLEHEM, PA ‘ Junior Howard Blue scored a season-high 21 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to lead Colgate to a 75-68 upset win over Lehigh Friday night at Stabler Arena.
Colgate (13-13, PL 8-5) moves into a tie for second place in the Patriot League standings while handing Lehigh its first home loss of the season in 12 outings. Lehigh is 16-10 and 8-5 in the league.
Colgate has put together four straight victories for the first time this season with one game remaining in the regular season on Sunday at Bucknell. This was the Raiders third straight win over the Mountain Hawks.
Blue, who had his fourth double-double of the season, received scoring help from Mark Linebaugh with 13 points, and Tim Sullivan, Dave Hardy and Andrew Zidar with 11 points apiece.
Lehigh was led by Matt Crawford with 19 points and Zlatko Savovic with 17.
With Colgate leading 52-51 with 13:54 left in the contest, the Raiders went on a 13-4 run to open a 10-point advantage over the Mountain Hawks and never looked back. Lehigh did manage to get back to within six points 65-59 with 2:53 left but was as close as they would come to the Raiders.
In the opening half, Colgate lead by as many as six points before Lehigh battled back to take a 39-37 lead. The Raiders managed to tie the game at halftime 39-39 on Alvin Reed’s jumper.
