Adam Weinberg, a popular professor and administrator at Colgate for more than a decade, will become president of Denison University in Granville, Ohio. Weinberg taught sociology and served as vice president and dean of the college until 2005, when he left to become executive vice president of World Learning and provost of the organization’s accredited higher education division.
During his years at Colgate, Weinberg gained national prominence for his work increasing civic education in higher education, in particular with the Center for Outreach, Volunteerism and Education (COVE); Democracy Matters; and his vision for residential education. At Denison, he will succeed Dale Knobel, who is retiring.
