The Office of Residential Life staff members are very excited to welcome you to the Colgate community as a member of the Class of 2028. We write today to provide you with details about your Residential Commons affiliation and housing. We recognize that where and with whom you live are important factors in your Colgate experience. The information you submitted in your housing and roommate preference materials was used to inform your housing assignment, along with the First Year Seminar (FSEM) placement you received from the Office of the Registrar. Your housing assignment is now available for you to view on your Colgate housing portal!
You can access the housing portal by going to Housing Portal | Colgate University and clicking on "Sign in to Housing Portal," or using the button below. After logging in with your Colgate username and password, you will see your assigned residence hall, and, if applicable, the name of your room- or suitemate(s) at the top of your homepage.
We encourage you to connect with your roommate(s) prior to your arrival to talk about and compare notes on your goals and expectations for your first year at Colgate, and share other useful information that will assist in creating a smooth transition to your new residential community. The "Move-in Guide" on the Arrival Day webpage Arrival Day | Colgate University can be a useful resource when discussing with your roommate(s) which items you should consider bringing to campus and which items you may want to leave at home. In addition, some students will receive a follow-up email with a link to a virtual tour of their assigned dorm room. This will help you and your roommate visualize and use your space more effectively.
Your residence hall and FSEM assignments determine which Residential Commons you belong to. I am pleased to share that you can now find your Residential Commons affiliation below.
If you do not see your commons affiliation, please contact the Office of Residential Life at reslife@colgate.edu.
Your commons co-directors and residential life staff will be in touch with you as the summer progresses to begin welcoming you to your new home at Colgate. Information about the Residential Commons program can be found on the Colgate website at Residential Commons | Colgate University. The residence halls belonging to each commons are listed below:
- Brown Commons: Gate House and Andrews, East, and Burke halls
- Ciccone Commons: Curtis and Drake halls
- Dart-Colegrove Commons: Stillman, Jane Pinchin, and West halls
- Hancock Commons: Bryan Complex (Crawshaw, Cobb, Russell, and Parke halls) and 113 Broad Complex (Whitnall, Read, Brigham, and Shepardson halls)
As you know, Arrival Day is scheduled for Sunday, August 25, 2024. On that day, you will pick up your residence hall key, begin to settle into your room, and launch your Colgate experience! More information will be coming soon, and in the meantime please explore the Arrival Day webpage for additional details that will aid in planning. If you are participating in a Pre-Orientation experience or are a fall sport athlete who will require early access to your room, we will be ready for you on the day your program has approved you to arrive and move in.
If you have any questions, issues accessing your housing account, or trouble viewing your roommate(s), please contact the Office of Residential Life at reslife@colgate.edu or 315-228-7367. Our office hours throughout the summer are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Enjoy the rest of your summer, and we look forward to meeting you in a few short weeks!
