Colgate athletics has featured astrogeophysics major and track student-athlete Gavin Fowler ’24. Fowler has been working with Professor Jonathan Levine on a NASA project while running track for Colgate. The project involves developing a miniature spectrometer called CODEX (Chemistry Organic and Dating Experiment) for a 2027 moon mission. The spectrometer will be used to date the age of the rocks on a crater on the moon. After graduation in May, Fowler will enroll at the University of Chicago for a PhD in cosmochemistry. Read more.
