The Department of Economics would like to highlight several recent publications from various faculty members:
- Professors Chad Sparber and Rishi Sharma had a recent publication titled “Buying Lottery Tickets for Foreign Workers: Lost Quota Rents Induced by H-1B Policy” published in 2024 by the Journal of International Economics.
- Professor Chad Sparber coauthored “The Impact of Secure Communities on the Labor Market Outcomes of Immigrant Women” with Cynthia Bansak (Saint Lawrence University) and Sarah Pearlman (Vassar College). It has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Policy Analysis and Management.
- Professor Erik Lillethun coauthored “Reselling Information” with Nageeb Ali (Penn State) and Ayal Chen-Zion, which has been accepted for publication in Games and Economic Behavior.
- Professor Mike Levere had a recent publication titled “The Importance of Schools in Driving Children's Applications for Disability Benefits” that was published in 2024 in the Journal of Public Economics. The paper was co-authored with Jeffrey Hemmeter (Social Security Administration) and David Wittenburg (Westat).
- Professor Yang Song recently published a paper (with Le Kang, Nanjing University, Ziteng Lei, Renmin University of China, and Peng Zhang, Chinese University of Hong Kong in Shenzhen) titled “Gender Differences in Reactions to Failure in High-Stakes Competition: Evidence from the National College Entrance Exam Retakes” in the Journal of Political Economy: Microeconomics.
- Professor Carolina Castilla recently published “Gender Differences in Intra-Household Efficiency: Evidence from an Investment Game between Spouses in India” in 2024 in the Journal of Development Studies.
- Professor Rich Higgins coauthored “Time-varying volatility and the housing market” with Ayse Sapci, published in 2024 in Macroeconomic Dynamics, 28(2):426-461.
- Professor Dean Scrimgeour recently published a paper with Camacho, A., & Conover, E. in 2024 in the Economía LACEA Journal, 23(1), 1-29, titled “Misallocation and manufacturing TFP in Colombia.”
- Professor Takao Kato coauthored “Disabilities, shared capitalism, and wealth: evidence from health and retirement survey” with Schur, L., Wang, J.*, Kruse, D. It was published in the International Review of Applied Economics in 2024.
- Professor Ben Anderson coauthored “R&D Concentration in Soybean and Cotton Seed Markets” with Colgate student Ian M. Sheldon in 2024. It was published in Review of Industrial Organization 64(1): 93-115.
- Professor Matthew P. Mafoske published “Disclosure policy design and regulatory agent behavior” in the American Journal of Agricultural Economics in 2024.
