With 20 tenure-stream faculty, the Colgate Economics Department is one of the largest departments on campus and is large relative to other liberal arts colleges. The department consistently ranks among the top rated economics departments at liberal arts colleges by RePEc. RePEC is a bibliographic database of working papers, journal articles, books, books chapters and other scholarly work and ranks Economics departments around the world in terms of their research productivity.
As evident by our consistently high ranking, our faculty are high-quality scholars, publishing original research articles in the top academic journals in the profession. Our professors regularly present their work at conferences, report their findings to policy makers, inform public debates and are leading their fields with their research findings. Many of our professors engage their students in their research and often co-author journal articles with current and former students (refer to our website for a list of recent publications).
The department shares a seminar series with the Economics Department at Hamilton College where economists can share their work with colleagues and students.
