Dear Colleagues,
We write to invite you to apply for the Faculty Success Program (FSP) offered by NCFDD. As you may be aware, every Colgate faculty member has access to a wide array of resources available through our institutional membership with the NCFDD with no additional cost to faculty. You can activate your NCFDD membership to access these resources, which include workshops on academic writing, work/life balance, and time management.
The 12-week-long FSP is a more individualized and intensive online program that offers small-group career/writing coaching. The per-participant cost of the FSP is not included in our institutional membership and is available at a significant additional cost per faculty participant. This year, the Office of the Provost and Dean of the Faculty will support up to four Colgate faculty members to participate in the FSP. At this time, only faculty at the associate professor rank are eligible to apply.
To ensure that all eligible faculty can take advantage of this opportunity, we have extended the deadline to apply for the FSP until Friday, July 19, 2024. Faculty will be notified by Wednesday, July 31; if you are awarded one of the slots, you may choose whether to enroll in the Fall 2024, Spring 2025, or Summer 2025 iteration of the FSP.
Applications should be submitted to Tammy Still at tstill@colgate.edu. In your application (no more than two pages, single-spaced), please include:
- A brief description of the research or scholarly project on which you would be working during the FSP;
- A description of the NCFDD resources with which you have already engaged, and how you expect participating in the FSP would build on that experience;
- A list of courses taught and service done over the last two years;
- An explanation of why this is a good time in your career to engage in this type of intensive career and writing program.
Faculty who are new to NCFDD, please activate your institutional membership using this link. Registration is ongoing for the August 14 webinar on cultivating your network of mentors, sponsors, and collaborators.
If you have questions about the FSP application process, or the other resources available through the NCFDD, please reach out to Christian DuComb, associate dean of the faculty (cducomb@colgate.edu), or Carolyn Hsu, incoming associate provost for equity and diversity (chsu@colgate.edu).
Colgate faculty members who have participated in the FSP in recent years include Antonio Barrera, Kristin De Lucia, Vijay Ramachandran, Chandra Russo, Elana Shever, and Susan Woolley. Feedback from these colleagues about the FSP has been overwhelmingly positive, so please feel free to reach out to them with any questions you may have about their experiences in the program.
Sincerely,
Christian DuComb, Associate Dean of the Faculty for Faculty Recruitment and Development
Carolyn Hsu, Incoming Associate Provost for Equity and Diversity
