I have a passion for teaching Chinese language, literature and culture. As a comparatist, I focus on helping students understand Chinese culture through a comparative lens. My research interests include Chinese science fiction, Posthumanism, AfroFuturism, CoFuturism and Asian American speculative ficiton, critical AI studies, and digital humanities and so on. My current book project, entitled “Cofutures of Creativity: Posthuman Creation in Science fiction,” explores the theme of creation in science fiction through multiethnic and transnational approaches. In this book, I will propose a new theory of creativity and creation by extensively studying works of science fiction from different cultural backgrounds.

In my future teaching and research, I will continue investigating the intersectionality of Chinese literature and science. I want to reveal the relevancy of the humanities in the age of digital technologies. I hope that there will be a chance for me to work on projects of digital humanities, where I can contribute by designing workshops for students who are interested in learning Chinese language and literature with the aid of emerging technologies such as ChatGPT.
