Director of University Writing

Department/Office Information

Writing Center, Writing and Rhetoric

As Director of University Writing, I support writing pedagogy in the Core as well as across the curriculum more broadly. I host workshops and seminars, curate resources, offer feedback on writing assignment design and sequencing, and work with departments and programs on curricular writing initiatives.

I previously served as Colgate’s Director of the Writing and Speaking Center from 2006 to 2023 and continue to work closely with faculty and staff of the WSC. I also regularly teach First-Year Seminars and writing courses in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric.

Some of my areas of particular interest include students’ transition from high school to college writing, generative AI and implications for teaching and learning, stylistics and rhetoric, and linguistic justice.
