Aatif Abbas investigates questions at the intersection of philosophy, politics, and economics. He specializes in global socioeconomic justice and has secondary interests in human rights and corporate responsibility. His research focuses on both methodological and substantive questions in these areas. Methodologically, he argues for democratizing knowledge production and theory construction. Substantively, he focuses on the ethics of global practices like international lending, resource mining, and offshoring. The different strands of his scholarship are tied together by the commitment to address sources of inequalities—whether they reside in our institutional structures, our epistemic practices, or both. He is currently working on a book entitled Theorizing Justice from the Margins: An Inclusive Contractualist Approach
