About Colgate’s Wired Network

Plug in to our wired network for the fastest speeds while on campus. Don’t forget to check at the circulation desk for ethernet cables you can borrow while studying.

Plugging In and Connecting to the Colgate Network

When you plug into an ethernet port on campus, our network access control system (Bradford's Campus Manager) will check to see if your computer has been validated. Without a validated system, you will have all the Internet access you need with the exception of peer-to-peer and BitTorrent protocols.

How Do I Validate My Machine?

The benefits to validating your machine include access to peer-to-peer and BitTorrent protocols for the purpose of legal file-sharing as well as double the bandwidth of an unvalidated machine. To validate your machine, visit the ConnectMe page and follow the on-screen instructions.

Guest Access

Visitors to Colgate may obtain access to the Internet by plugging in their network cable. As their machine is not validated, they will have full Internet access with the exception of peer-to-peer and BitTorrent protocols.

The Registration Process for Game Consoles

If you have a game console that is connected by an ethernet cable, follow the registration instructions described on our Get Connected page.
