Broad Street Association (BSA)

Promoting inclusion, integration, and interaction between theme and Greek communities at Colgate University.

BSA Mission

BSA is a student organization comprising representatives from Colgate's residential Broad Street and apartment communities. The organization aims to build relationships between student residences as well as between students and the larger Hamilton community. The organization also strives to build relationships with additional campus constituencies, including faculty and staff.

To build such relationships, the BSA plans and implements programs to bring these groups together. The association also provides funding for student-initiated programs in line with these goals.

Requesting BSA Funding

Students residing in any of the Broad Street, apartment, or townhouse communities listed below may request funding for community-building programming.

Requirements

At least two houses must be on each proposal. These two houses may be two college houses/apartment/townhouse communities, or one Greek Letter Organization (GLO) and one college house/apartment/townhouse community.
Event planning and event execution duties must be equally shared between all involved organizations
Only those houses with a delegate on the board are eligible to submit proposals for consideration.
Proposals must be submitted and presented at least two weeks ahead of the scheduled event date.
Proposals must be financially sound. For example, approximately $10 per person for a catered meal is an average request.
Proposals must include an itemized budget.
Proposals must support of the mission of the BSA, and be open and inclusive.

Submitting a Proposal

Complete the BSA Proposal Form.
The BSA board will invite representatives from each community on the proposal to present at the next BSA board meeting.
Representatives will pitch the proposal and answer questions from the board.
The BSA will deliberate privately to reach a decision. Representatives will be notified of the BSA decision by e-mail later in the evening.

Membership

All students currently enrolled at Colgate University residing in, or affiliated with, any of the Broad Street, apartment, or townhouse communities listed below can become a member of the Broad Street Association as established by this Constitution and Bylaws.
