At certain times, students may find themselves in a position where they may miss a number of consecutive class periods. Illness, family emergencies, and other situations can arise and administrative advisers can assist with communicating with faculty. You would be well advised to consult the Student Handbook and review the section on "Absence from Class and Medical Excuses" found on page 44.
In general, students are expected to communicate with their professors when they might expect to be absent from a class. It is for longer periods of absences that administrative advisers may contact faculty. In either case, we do recommend that students be in contact with their professors regarding content from the missed class periods or any required coursework that was due during the period of absence.
