Counseling Center

Colgate University
Hamilton, NY  13346-1398

Office hours: Monday–Friday:
8:30 a.m. – noon and 1:30 p.m. – 5 p.m.

The Counseling Center is in Conant House — a fieldstone house with dark green shutters behind Drake Hall and above the Bryan Complex.  You can see Conant House from Drake Hall’s archway.  The road that leads to Conant House is the same one that goes behind Curtis Hall and past the Edge Café.  Its slightly out-of-the-way location lends itself to the privacy and confidentiality that many students say they appreciate.

The services of the Counseling Center are offered free of charge to all students. Click here to be taken to a confidential, secure scheduler to make a first appointment. You can also simply call the center (between 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday) or drop in at Conant House and set up an appointment personally with the office manager.

  • A counselor is available 24/7 by calling campus safety at 315-228-7333.
  • During office hours (8:30 a.m. - noon and 1:30 - 5:00 p.m.) a counselor is accessible at 315-228-7385.
Monday through Friday the center has crisis/consultation hours from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Crisis/consultation hours can also be used to consult about another person. Crisis/consultation hours are provided on a first-come, first-served basis; however, emergencies take precedence.

Colgate University takes gender-based violence seriously and provides support and information on sexual violence to survivors, friends and families of survivors, and the university community.

Crisis/consultation hours are provided primarily for emergency situations. If your concern is not an emergency, we ask that you schedule a first appointment.

Counseling sessions are strictly confidential. Your privacy is very important to us; and the center adheres to state laws and ethical standards, which require that all client information be held in confidence. Except in emergency circumstances, no one outside of the center is given any information — even the fact that you have had an appointment — without your consent.
